Hello Everyone,

Can anyone help me identify this tree?

my neighbor's specimen is probably 100' tall, Evergreen, large dark leaves with reddish vein, light grey smooth bark. inflorescence is cream/yellow catkin about 6-8" long - haven't seen any fruit or seed yet.

Zone 9b, Southern California, US - the tree is not native here, and the former owner seems to have been a rare/tropical tree collector.

I think i agree with Tyler. It looks like a Macadamia tree. It's a bit outside my grow-zone experience but i think it's right.
