growing fodder beets for pigs

Anybody know roughly how many acres (or portions thereof) of fodder beets would I need to feed a pig through the growing season (May - October), as part of a balanced omnivore diet?

If this is doable, my next question will be in the permaculture forum: how to grow fodder beats in a polyculture - not interested in any monoculture plots here on the homestead!

What can I feed a pig eat through the growing season (May - October), as part of a balanced omnivore diet?

Wouldn't it be easier for the pig to forage than for you to have to feed it?

Maybe the question will lead to an answer that has a sugar beet component, maybe not.

It is common, after the harvest, to turn the hogs loose in the field. They will find every one the harvesters missed. Beets are most commonly used as a winter feed. Most hogs are slaughtered shortly after the harvest.
