I would think it would work fine with all of the above. Winter sowing basically allows plants to undergo a period of cold moist stratification before germinating, and sometimes to get a little jump on spring. I tend to plant all my
native plants in the fall and then they come up in the spring, sometimes directly in the ground, and sometimes in an unheated
greenhouse or cold frame. When the latter, I
water them periodically all winter. Try it, if the germination ecology of the plant is appropriate to the method it will work, if not it will not.
