Hi All;
Its sad but in times of duress, there are some who use this as an opportunity to take advantage of peoples fear.
I'm not referring to  businesses  but the same folk who prowl the internet everyday looking to take advantage.

A few days ago I received an email from paypal.... very official looking!   Told me there was a problem with my account and I should log in.  Even gave me a case number.... Hmmmm
I haven't used paypal for over a year... So I ignore it.  But I tell Liz.   She says, she inadvertently used my account around Christmas rather than her "Rocks" account .
She tried to log in,  could not seem to get through.  She finally stressed the system out and it refused any more tries that day.
The next morning I look over the official email again, I try to log in,   it wants me to create a new password...
I open a new page and access my paypal account there,  Gosh I get right in !!! How about that!  I check and the account has no activity for 2020, very good.
I note the site address while there. I return to the other "official looking" site that wants a new password and guess what...  different addresses !  A scam!
I made an attempt to contact paypal to report this but they make it almost impossible, so I gave up.

Today I received an email from Amazon billing... OK , said there was a problem with my new prime subscription...  OK  I did just breakdown and sign on to Prime.
Says there is a discrepancy in the numbers on my card ... if I do not fix this promptly any current order will be held until I do...
I look at the address  and gosh it doesn't say amazon ... Hmmm , Gee, I have an Amazon card  issued by them, several years ago. That is the only one ever used...
Funny how I gave them the wrong numbers !!! Another scam

Someone who was stressed about the current situation, could easily have fallen victim to either of these.  Losing much needed money at a time when no one can work!
How slimy are some people who prey on the fearful?
I can only hope that Karma comes back quickly,in this time of virus to those who prey.
Would serve them right!

You learn how to close your eyes and tell yourself "this just isn't really happening to me." Tiny ad:
