Has anyone ever heard of turning a spa motor into a hydroelectric turbine? They come in 110v and 220v and are already threaded for 2" piping. Please share links and thoughts. What would need to be done to make it work?

Hi Kevin;   Welcome to Permies!

Well Kevin, I'm not understanding correctly what your thinking/hoping for here?
I'll give you my thoughts and we will see how close I get.

I could be wrong about this but, a spa motor is a water pump correct?
It uses 110 or 220 power to turn impellers that pressurize the water coming out of the jets.
It does not produce electricity as it turns.... but instead uses electricity too turn .

What were you hoping for ?

Interesting idea. Some pumps can generate power. There’s a booklet, I think it is called Water Pumps as Generators. Ive seen it on eBay but have not read it.  Hot tub pumps are available cheap on abandoned hot tubs and I like that they have a big 2” connector.
Optimizing voltage compatibility can get tricky when building a micro hydro energy system. So I’m told by someone who has tried it.
