I just noticed that the oak blooms are very prolific and there are tiny baby acorns like crazy on the oak tree in front of my son's house..we have NEVER had a mast year on that tree, there have been acorns but few and far between, it is over 100 years old..but this looks like it will be it's first mast year in MY memory..unless I missed it before.
I am very thrilled..I hope to plant tons of oak
trees in our woods, i have one oak that I grew from an acorn for 40 years in front of our house (need to check that one for flowers/acorns)..it might be too young at 40 to bear?
The white oaks had a mast year last year around here, so it will be interesting to see if other oaks also have a mast year..this is very exciting..(I know ..doesn't take much to get me excited)
