I am wanting to raise some meat birds in the summer and have a 4 x 8' A-frame chicken tractor I pull around the yard. Does anyone use this in winter as a greenhouse or hoophouse and plant greens in it? I will only be raising the meat birds in the winter so it won't be in use then...
Hey Beth. I've not tried it, but I know some folks overwinter their chickens in greenhouses. This article at TheModernHomestead, "Chooks in the Winter Greenhouse", may give you some ideas you can adapt to your situation. If you do, I'd be interested in what you try and how it works.
Thanks Leigh...that is a great article. I've actually decided I will just let the meat birds run around in the pasture with our layers and not try to separate them until bedtime and have a separate area then. I eventually want a greenhouse and this is great about the vermicomposting!
