Hello friends. Below is a link to my latest blog post. I find a small group of folks who are involved in natural building who have become narrow-minded and fanatical about it. Unfortunately, some of these folks are admins of groups and they are trying to erase all mention of earthbag, superadobe, and hyperadobe, because there is some plastic involved. As I point out in this article, there are very few to NO modern structures that don't have any modern materials like metals, glass, screens, plumbing, wiring, etc. Also, very few build without the use of power tools, grid power, generator power, etc. As I say in the article, natural building is ABSOLUTELY site specific. What is available in one place may not be available in another. What works in one place may not work in another. I hope you enjoy the article and feel free to share your thoughts here. Morgan.

When I hear "natural building" I imagine a construction that uses local natural resources as much as possible, scavenged from the larger environment around us with purchasing being a last resort. That is in my simple mind at least, I've got no more than general knowledge of the topic. I think I would love to build a natural home but also want indoor plumbing and wiring. Definitely not all or nothing. Anyone who pushes only one way of creating anything makes me feel as if financial ties are closing their mind, otherwise what is the harm in allowing others to explore their own path. Do what you can.

I absolutely agree Melonie, and find that most people do. Unfortunately, a very small minority is allowing their narrowmindedness to limit the ideas and knowledge available to all. I will keep doing what I can to share different viewpoints.
