I Just bought a piece of
land in Taos county, NM. Ive always wanted to build an adobe, but Im worried it may not function all that well in that area. I currently live an area thats generally about 10 degrees warmer, and my north and west adobe walls stay really cold. Of
course, someone added a stick built addition to the south and east side (facepalm), so I have no way to tell how south and east adobe walls perform in the cold. The earthships seem to perform really well using thermal mass (right down the road from my new lot) but theyre also surrounded by giant burms of dirt, or built into the earth... Im thinking it may be appropriate to just go with a stick built, on a slab, with giant southern windows. Any input would be appreciated! thanks.
