Hi to all,

I am interested in buying some molds, perhaps even a selection of them, new or used for various kinds of interlocking blocks. I've searched the internet, nothing stands out really, Id prefer to hear from people who have feedback on block-making and what they liked or didnt about a particular mold. Or did you end up building your own molds?  Is it worth it to reinvent the wheel? (or block?)  I thank you in advance for your wisdom. Best..M

What material are the blocks going to be made from?

Good question. Well, I'll need to experiment with mixes. I have access a goodly amount of sawdust if I need it, wood chips from hard and soft woods, in fact, alot of that and was hoping chips would be a major component, pine needles somewhat, also Kudzu in its green form is free for the harvesting not too far away, cow and goat manure from local farms definitely. I can get pulverized glass if need be. Peanut shells and walnut hulls, shredded corn husks. Possibly some free (wet) invasive swamp plants. All that and native soil in Mississippi.  Im looking to build outbuildings with the blocks in my spare time, we have abundant solar energy for drying, lots of water, the region is a rather humid, USDA growing Zone 8A ,hot and about 40 inches rainfall a year. Hot and dampish.  Id like to hit on a ceramic mixture that is cool in the summertime, Winters are pretty warm there. I need a pond anyway, so I'll be digging soil on site.

mould making

If you have clay I would recommend earth blocks or rammed earth.
Both have been covered on the site elsewhere.
