I was given a Propolis tincture, and told that it is a strong antibacterial. I was also told that it can even cure strep. Does anyone know anything else about this herb?
not really an herb. it's plant resins (mostly from trees) collected by honey bees for sealing cracks in their hives and lining honeycomb to raise brood in. it does indeed have some fairly strong antibacterial properties.
Propolis. Ah, the memories
Actually, I can't really remember specific uses, which probably means it was to my mother in the 70s and 80s, what tea tree is now: got a bite, infection, sniffle, look a bit tired? Get some of this down/on ya!
At least propolis tastes better than tea tree, to me anyway.
Watch out, it stains everything it touches.
Ahh, thanks guys. That clears a lot up. I am not surprised bees are involved! I did discover it stains everything, even the glass! I gave it to my son, who was not thrilled with it but took it.
