Anyone have success doing Shiitake or Lions Mane in buckets?

Hey All:

I have some left over sawdust spawn and thinking about trying my luck at growing them out in buckets in my basement over the winter.
I'd be using very fine maple wood chips as a growing medium and have had success doing this with Oysters.
I plan on sterilizing the wood chips in a hot water bath.

Wondering if anyone has had any luck with lions mane or shiitake in buckets or am I simply wasting my time & material here?

I've grown lion's mane in bags before. It's not nearly as fast of a colonizer as oysters, so contamination can be a problem, which makes the bags nice (pierce once it's fully colonized), but I think with proper sterile procedure you should be okay. Would consider adding lime to the soak bath to cut down on trich.
