Deep Fitness: The Mindful, Science-Based Strength-Training Method to Transform Your Well-Being in Just 30 Minutes a Week by Philip Shepherd and Andrei Yakovenko is a book I came across when I was in the grip of grief and stress-induced shoulder birsitis. Mercifully due, I believe, to my dedication to yin yoga and educating myself about trauma-informed practices, I’m no longer in chronic pain and the mobility in my shoulders and upper body is returning. I’ve been a committed yogi since the age of 40 (nearly 7 years) and the Deep Fitness training feels to me like a natural extension of yoga, breath work and mindful meditation. The process of ageing and how it can be mitigated and even reversed is explained in great detail, and I look forward to incorporating deep fitness into my life as a way of building up my muscles and bones again. The audio book comes with a PDF of all the exercises and routines (you don’t need a gym membership to do). I thought this book would be of interest to permies who need to be fit.

My honeysuckle is blooming this year! Now to fertilize this tiny ad:
