Hi all, I have come across many small passive
solar designs that serve such functions as drying food and heating
water.
I am wondering if it is possible to combine functions of
solar food dryers, greenhouses, batch collectors
My goal is to start a home nursery system where I can start seeds and cuttings outside during winter, but in some kind of enclosed, portable, multi-tiered, heated structure. Like a cold frame, but with bottom warmth and a few "shelves" or miniature terraces, plus I will need the ability to wheel it around on a
concrete patio. I have seen the
rocket mass heater seedbeds, but what about heated water tubing, underneath the bed of soil? If we use a simple batch collector design, it is not just heating water, but air around the internal container, which could be "plugged in" to the cold frame module on harsh winter days. During the summer, the seedbed wont be in use as much, so that could be designed to be able to switch out with drying racks, and have air piped in from the
water heater chamber. The water heater becomes the air heater and water heater for cold frame and food drying tasks. Is this sound? half baked? overkill?
