Come out for a screening of the documentary film "Homegrown" (50 minutes) - Saturday October 3rd, screenings at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm, at the Westcott Community Center, corner of Euclid Ave. and Westcott St., Syracuse, NY.

HOMEGROWN follows the Dervaes family who run a small Organic farm in the heart of urban Pasadena, California. While "living off the grid", they harvest over 6,000 pounds of produce on less than a quarter of an acre, make their own bio diesel, power their computers with the help of solar panels, and maintain a website that gets 4,000 hits a day. The film is an intimate human portrait of what it's like to live like "Little House on the Prairie" in the 21st Century.

We will be holding a short open meeting panel discussion at the conclusion of each screening where we will discuss reactions to the film, Permaculture/homesteading in Syracuse and surrounding areas, and activities from affinity groups in the area. Hope to see you there!

The Screening will be a part of the Westcott Bulb Giveaway/Garden Extravaganza. All from CNY are welcome to see the film and support festival filled with crafters, gardeners, landscapers, children's pumpkin sale by Syracuse Real Food Coop, food, entertainment, presentations and more. and learn how you can start your own neighborhood bulb project. Westcott neighbors only, can pick up 18 free perennial daffodil bulbs. 5,400 will be set aside for the first 300 people to show up from the Westcott neighborhood.
