I just read a useful article about some signs that a tree is in decline and could be getting ready to fall. I think this is a good thing to keep an eye on as we go into the winter storm season.

Summary:
  • More branches falling than usual
  • Bark is missing
  • Mushrooms at the base of the tree
  • Exposed roots
  • Carpenter Ants
  • Split trunk or large cavities
  • Tree is leaning noticeably
