I'm looking for recommendations of comprehensive DIY building
books, with a focus on outbuildings. I've little building
experience, though I'm fairly handy and can tackle most non-structural home repair issues. I have built a
chicken coop from plans
Garden Coop, awesome urban coop design. I have taken a 7 week natural building
course, mostly a survey/overview of many techniques, but with plenty of hands on.
Having recently acquired some acres, with some salvaged building materials, I need to start building sheds and other small outbuildings, plus fences, decks, pergolas... I'd like a good reference/how-to book that covers multiple building styles (post and beam, stick frame, laminating 2-by material) and covers tips and issues at all stages of building (foundations, walls, roofs). I'm not worried about building codes since I'm building structures that are under the minimum square footage, but I do want to build sturdy, solid and aesthetically pleasing (not fancy, just not eye-sores) structures.
