How long have the people in your core group known each other? How do you plan to acquire the property and establish ownership and equity? How do you plan to vet interested newcomers who might be motivated to join later?
Intentional community is a whole other level of design beyond rural homesteading with all that it involves.
I have spent much of my adult life in community settings of various forms, and am familiar with several ways for it NOT to work. It is actually comparatively easy to grow food, build stuff, provide your own
water and energy and all the rest of it. It's even possible with a little savvy and connections to devise ways to make money doing it. But the simple getting along with each other and associated issues are what will bring it all crashing down every time. So do your due diligence, read up, and visit some communities before you make the leap..... It's very worth doing if you can pull it off. So many of the big questions around
sustainability are best answered, or in fact only answerable, in larger groups than the nuclear family off by itself on land.....
