Over here in Oakland I think we have a similar winter as far as cold, very few frosts. I left some black peanuts in the ground too long into the fall/winter and the winter rains here sprouted the peanuts so I thinned them and have peanuts again this year. I would recommend protecting them from rain once the plants die down, this
should help prevent sprouting and mold. I recommend either harvesting some or moving some pods from the plants you leave because otherwise there will be a lot of peanut sprouts in one place.
