Hi
We have just acquired land in eastern Nova Scotia that is mixed softwoods, mainly spruce fir bit of pine with some pockets of maple and birch coppice. The forest floor is alot of beautiful thick bouncy spongey moss and we were wondering what varieties of edible/beneficial mushrooms we could consider inoculating in these areas that would succeed in this mostly softwood environment. Do people inoculate directly into moss?
I know that hardwood logs would be ideal and we will be managing some smaller maple and birch coppice so will have some hardwood...we are just trying to get a sense of what we should be doing as we work on areas to create some mushroom friendly spots.
Thank you in advance!
