Not really solving any problem I was just wondering if it would be benefitial that's all. I am at 3600 feet of altitude. It was just an idea and I wanted to know if someone has done it before. I also read that chickens do quite well in the winter with no heating systems. So again I just wanted to know if someone has trided before that's all thanks for your input.

As I was reading one of the articles on chickens I though would it be possible, convenient, functional or efficient to build a chicken coop with a rocket mass heater? has anyone tried it? I would apretiate information, not assumptions. I know there will be some that think it is a bad idea, if those have actually done it or have seen first hand one being done, I want to hear all bout it.

Hi there permies!

I just wanted to add and make clear a couple of things to make sure that we are in the same page. first of all I am adding to my set of skills, bee keeping!
Second, my main objective is to SERVE AND LIVE AMONG LOVING, COMPASSIONATE AND TOLERANT PEOPLE. I want to step outside of our culture of fear where we are afraid of others and different ways of seeing, perceiving life. As Permaculture teaches us diversity is one of the most valuable and important things in nature. So pretending to live all the same ar think the same is an illusion and fear is a natural response to the unknown but by being conscious about it we can avoid the consequences of it. Also I try to keep in mind that Permaculture is a philosophy of design to take care of the EARTH and HUMANS and not a set of "techniques" to only make profit. In that context I want to get to know possible community partners in a loving and compassionate way through emails, phone calls and possibly in person and not start our human interactions with background checks and things like that (I understand if you need to do that, but do not do it in the first email) although all the people I have volunteered with never have even asked me for anything like that but took the time to get to know me, which I believe is enough for what community is, after all we do not do background checks for all our neighbors when we move to a new house in a new neighborhood, do we?
I am and open book and you can ask whatever you want and I will be true to myself in the first place and honest to you. I guess my point is if you are afraid of others or have the need to be "in control" or be the "authority" then perhaps it means you are not ready to live in community.

my name is Rod, 36 yo. I am fascinated with the idea/philosophy of Permaculture I have been studying it for the last years or so and I would love to be part of an intentional community where I can live its principles and get some more hands on experience. I started a journey 4 months ago on my bicycle with little to no money just to put myself in the hands of the universe and to learn farming along the way and in hope to find a place where community and permaculture meet (but it is not easy) and it's been amazing. I have worked in a dairy farm in Florida and currently helping on a retreat center (with intentions to become a model of permaculture) in the Appalachian mountains in NC. But looking for a place with like minded people that want to live off the land work hard and enjoy nature and the great spirituality that it comes with it. I would like to live in a "gift economy" as Charles Eisenstein advocates but I also understand that the transition must be gradual. I do not desire any richness for myself but I am willing to be part of a community where the land provides in abundance and help the local economies and be part of a sustainable and economically profitable enterprise.
I have a good deal of experience with animal husbandry (goats, chickens, ducks), growing vegetables (green thumb), heavy machinery, chainsaw and construction and carpentry. Also know how to use all sorts of power tools. I am fluent in Spanish and English and a little of Portuguese. But most importantly I want to live in a loving, compassionate environment with people with love for the earth and all sentient beings that want to live sustainably off the land and with respect for our planet and other human beings.

I am currently helping here in the Appalachian mountains at the very edge of northwest NC and they have built an earthen building and seems to be no problems. Also I have been looking for land for a friend and the land around here seems to be quite cheap, for your budget you can get a lot more than 5 acres but with no buildings, but i have seen 20+ fro half of the money you have. Also the land is beutifull great for agroforestry and with great energy! I you get something I will definitely help you build your community! If you need more help please let me know.
