Jack,

Thank you for the info!

I live just east of San Antonio.

My plan is to try and grow a bit of everything, Corn, tomatoes, several verities of peppers, cantaloupes, water melons, broccoli, lettuce, potatoes, carrots, squash, pumpkins, asparagus, spinach and anything else I can think of!.

I actually have some fruit trees along with some avocado trees that are doing well that I planted this year and should see fruit next season. These go along with the berries, black, raspberry and strawberries as well. The strawberries, I'm planning to try in all of the different growing areas, ( hugelkultur, permaculture and straw bale), to see which one does the best.

The problem besides the sandy conditions I am having right now is the gophers.

I will be permaculturing the original garden area for next season just hoping some of this will help me avoid, to a degree the rodents.

Hello everyone!,

I'm very new to all of the permaculture and I am trying to learn every day.

I am doing a section of my property in permaculture, a section in straw bales and this new section. I have ten acres so I have room to play and experiment.

I have been looking and there is a lot of people talking about cedar but my question is what about Oak? I live in South Texas and will be starting my own hugelkultur beds in a few weeks, however, I only have oak trees on my property will I have any issues using oak? has anyone had any experience with this?

I have tried, looking on the thread but I probably missed it on the oak issue but any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much Y'all !
