I may be moving this spring to Connecticut for work and would like to make some connections within the homesteading/permaculture community beforehand. Are there any folks around the Bloomfield/Farmington/West Hartford area? I'm completely lost when it comes to that climate/culture/geography as I've been in Florida for 20+ years? I'm interested in meeting friendly people who would be willing to help me acclimate.
I've been researching communities and neighborhoods to live in and West Hartford, Simsbury, Farmington all seem to be at the top of the list, but then I received a huge dose of reality when looking at rental prices.
I'm planning to stay indefinitely and would love to find a small piece of land that I can develop into something productive and beautiful. 1/4 to 1 acer is more than enough.
But I'd settle for an efficiency with a south facing patio at this point...
Apologies for the wish list. So to recap, I'm looking to connect with friendly permaculture/fruit tree/homesteading enthusiasts who would be willing to help me transition if I move to the area. I should probably wait to post this until it's a definite.
