Hello, I'm Tom. Not so new to life, closing in on 50, but new to this forum and new to permaculture, homesteading, off-grid and whatnot. Both my wife and I are interested in getting a little place for ourselves, where we can largely take care of ourselves.

My wife has experience growing food and (re-)using what's available and I've got some experience with DIY and a technical mind. We both think we'll be able to manage to get something going, but also are aware we need to learn a lot. But as we're not in a hurry, that's ok.

Learning a lot means reading loads and this forum seems to be a good source, thanks.

I already have a initial question, but i'm not sure in which of the subforums to post this:

We're currently looking into buying some land in the Philippines. Obviously we have some criteria: affordable, not too far from a town (not to close either!), near a road, ... But from a permaculture perspective, i'm not sure what to consider and also cannot really find much info on that. So i'm wondering what aspects to consider when buying the land?

Thanks,

Tom
