New Permaculture forest business is Looking for Partners and Workers.   Pacific North West Forest system, outside of Willits, CA
Women or men who want to Join our efforts to improve the health of a small piece of the forest and help preserve the forest, all while earning a high income.

I am starting a new company to grow wild gourmet mushrooms and rent out forest cabins to those wanting a fun weekend hunting wild mushrooms.   In this amazingly beautiful forest area.  People earn $130 for 3-hour guided wild mushroom hunts.  The local motel in town is where to find the Asian buyers for our prized Golden Chanterelles and Morels.  Both of which grow on my 40+ acres.

There are eight buildings; 3 Cabins, 1 Greenhouse, 1 Garden Shed, 1 Garage, 1 Mushroom House, and a Utility building.  The Redwoods, Douglas Firs, Oaks, and Madrones that are thick and healthy with old-growth logging trails make ATV travel fun and helpful for less active guests.   Chickens are in a fenced garden in a coop with a run.  The Garden area is around an acre.

Airbnb will list this rental as a destination rental $$$.
"Forest Haven will Guarantee you find wild mushrooms no matter when you book the cabin for the weekend."

Sound like a good idea?    Call me.    I need workers and Partners/workers, not money.    Yes, I could hire it all out, but who will take over when I am gone?    Partners are who are needed in the peaceful, beautiful forest.

You can email me at LVallentyne@foresthaven.us
Location: Outside a town called Willits, CA, In the  Pacific Northwest Rainforest.

WARNING: This wild land with black bears and other Apex predators.  No fences; they were here first.  We are off-grid, and many hazards make it a poor choice for small children.

I recently bought a chest freezer.  It came boxed in styrofoam sheets.
To cover it I am using cement, lime, and sand wet enough to paint on in several layers.
The sheets I plan to use in the construction of a new coop and pen.

Wish me luck I watched a guy do it on youtube.   Philippians I think.
Now I know why he took the time to cover it,  Not looks but preservation.   Awesome.

Electric fence is sounding better and even more affordable after this.

Where in some locations it is feeding that brings them in here they are feeding on natural fauna.   Even in the garden, she chose to eat natural grasses.  Leaving my sad cabbage and potato plants alone.

The Daisy is as close as I will get to hunting.    Hunters, I understand own a vast amount of private forest land in the US.   Plus they bring the most amazing delights to work with them in December.  Yum Yum.

Here I see 5 to 10 deer on the side of the road every time I drive out the ten miles to town.   All country/wild land.   Electric would also help with other critters.  Black Bears

Early June, I look out my downhill side of the house to see a deer in my garden!  Running out the front door, I grab a broom and go yelling.  "Get out of my garden!"
As I rounded the last corner of my house, she was there.  She has not moved a step since I saw her last!
How dare this cow not be afraid of me.

Waving the broom about like a mad woman.  I opened the gate and ran straight to her.  Yelling anything that I could think of.  She slowly trouted deeper downhill to the terraced mountain garden below.

Point of reference I am disabled and a woman and 65.   I was not going to win chasing it.  Hell, I have never even made it to the bottom of the garden as it is too steep for me.

I returned with a Daisy BB handgun with CO2 left over from the last owner of this retreat.
That cow was still there in the lower garden.   Taking clear aim, I squeed off a shot.  The BB  bounced off her hind end.

Shocking myself, the BB hit her right where I aimed.  Plus, seeing the glint of that tiny ball so far away in the sun was excellent too.

She glared as if to say, "What was that?"
She did not even walk a single step.

I took a second shot at her, again in the body.   This time it strikes her toward the front near her heart.  Now she slowly walks to the next terrace level downhill and stops.  Daring me.

I gave her one more to the neck as her body was no longer visible.

The doe ran one more level down and behind a bush.   All Done.    I have solved all my problems for the day.   Plus, I can now say I have shot a deer 3 times!  Hunting seems to drop dead easy.

Yep, I would have made an excellent hunter.

The next day while checking the Garden fence, I saw my apple tree in the garden had every apple pulled off and a few of its branches too.    2 dozen late spring apples lay on the ground.  Not one was eaten.   The Bitch is pissed!  You may assume I am talking about the doe.  But both are correct.

When I returned from the mess, I saw her lying under my deck, cooling out in the shade, watching me.   To my surprise, the does around here have NO FEAR of Humans!

I am starting to catch on.
Where are the real hunters?

Neil, Awesome idea!

My sister-in-law who lives in the Sierra mountain range works with autistic kids for 40 years.   She has great success with horses and children.
Oddly my sister is painfully shy.   Although quite average in all other respects.

Best of Luck in your quest.

If you are in need of a job/mountain home please let me know.

Love the letter idea.
You can find the address of the owner, their name, and so much more at your county seat.
How much is owed, back taxes, Leins, or encumbrance are all public information.  With less than $10
you should be able to get a county worker to help you find and copy all the info you need.
Or you could hire the workout if you don't have the time again ask the county clerk for help finding a local service.

When crafting your letter try and find out as much as you can about the owner first.

They likely will want assurances that you will care for the land.  - if yes  Low Ball price
If no - assure them of a quick and painless sale.   No need to hire a real estate salesman saves them thousands.  yada  yada

Older folks or younger inherited owners.   Where do they live?  is it in default?  How is their health?  Lots of weird stuff just pops up and helps you negotiate a sale if you just keep poking around a few months before writing your finale  letter/email

Best of Luck

Hi, Sabrena

Your post moved me.  I have lived in the deep south for over twenty years as an adult and saw the degree to which allergies can and do destroy clear-headed thinking.
I am currently looking for people.  Either workers or renters.
10 miles outside of Willits, CA    My allergies here are gone but for the poison oak.

This area is full of tall healthy trees and you won't hear a car all day, every day unless it is me going or coming.
The cabin that is open is currently on the morning rush hour trail for local Deer and Rabbits.
Large open room with wood stove in the corner, Bathroom has cold water sink, and flush toilet.   Sitting outside under your covered front porch you can see peace and quiet 365 a year.
Common area Hot water shower, washer, and dryer, kitchen, garden.

I am 65 yr old white lesbian living on disability.    Each morning I meditate while breathing in healthy non smog clean air.

My belief?  Permaculture is a god sent for lazy/disabled people like me.    I use to be a hard worker.

Here is the only rub.    I can die from the flu or covid.   Plus you can't even fly out here without a shot, can you?   If you decide to join the world, which takes the vaccination to ensure others less than them won't die, let me know.

One faster method to kill any plant is to pour boiling water over it.    Pampus grass, I would think needs to be cut down to the ground and the roots left alone.   Then pour two or three gallons of boiling water over the base slowly.   I love the idea of putting the seedy tops in a bucket of water and let them sit in the sun for a week.
I myself am a very lazy gardener.
