Stumbling around the internet, I found this free download:

http://www.agroforestry.net/tti/index.html

It is a book full of data sheets of traditional tropical trees of Pacifica. The data sheets may be downloaded individually, or the complete set (849 pages).

The book is now out of print, but I searched amazon.com, and currently they have 3 used copies ranging from $160-$543.
Yikes! A free PDF sounds better to me!

Enjoy!

Thanks for that. I went in and looked at the paper mulberry on that list and did some research on it. Looks like it is present in oklahoma so I guess I will be hunting a wild paper mulberry come spring as it seems to be a cool fiber/fodder tree.

Thanks so much for this John. Today is the day that I am to finalize the planting selections for our first farmer here in Tamil Nadu, India and your list will definitely help us.

I just went back to the site, and it appears that individual species can be downloaded (as many as you want), but not the entire book as a single download -probably causing too big a burden on their server - over 800 pages in one download!

They also have free downloads for specialty crops for the region, as well as other publications.
A great resource for those in tropical regions.

The Traditional Trees...book is still available (used) at Amazon, but based on the price (see attachment), I think that I will stick with my PDF version on my hard disk!
