Free range egg producers are warning against a proposal to give chooks less space to roam around in as the Australian egg corporation calls for an increase to the current stock level of 1,500 hens per hectare.

1500 to 20,000 - that seems like a measured increase. That works out to just over five square feet per bird (a hectare is about 111,000 square feet)

The lesson here is watch this space - no doubt "organic" will soon be redefined to include any substance Monsanto want to put in there.

Is that a banana in your pocket? I'm just asking for this tiny ad:
Heat your home with the twigs that naturally fall of the trees in your yard
