Hi to all,

I am planning on having quail in my future home to be, which is a sweet spot in a small rural town, but I think they fear the town looking too "hillbilly" and they are a little twitchy about things they have not seen before and I am not sure if there are any livestock in town. If they're are, they're keeping it pretty quiet.. I am going to try to test the waters of the local town ordinances. They have a vague statue that says such things as "fowl" must be approved on a case by case basis and receive a permit. I was thinking of coming with my proof in hand, a little PR package on my laptop computer to play in support of my having a permit to keep x number of quail, as quail being quiet, having nice vocalizations (unlike chickens which can be a bit loud) and being small and inoffensive. I am looking for help with this, anybody who has quail, if they would be willing to donate a few seconds of their quail's vocalizations and a little video to go with it, I think I could edit it into a really great PR package to assure an optimal outcome.  If you had a stealth system for keeping them, Id appreciate a look at your system and I could draw up a schematic to present also.  Thanks if you are willing to help with this.  Let us join hands to achieve "One small step for Quail-kind."

Best, Mike

They really aren't all that loud; I've been trying to get a recording of an egg song, which is about the most noise mine make most days. (It's a high pitched "wheeeeooo! Wheeoo" that sounds more like a songbird than chickens.) I've only ever heard my rooster crow twice in the 4 months I've had him, but he's the only boy with 8 hens; your mileage may vary if you have more. I keep mine outside and haven't successfully recorded any of their other noises, because wild birds in the distance are louder than my quail are from 2 feet away!

Still no egg song, but here's some cricket noises and peeping. (That's 5 mph wind in the background. Volume up!)
