So I moved some boulders into a 12 foot diameter circle and made a spiral Garden Bed. Its got some aspects of a hugelkultur, since I put old logs under the soil, about 10 or 15 wheel barrels full of soil. The idead is to grow tomatoes. We are hoping the rocks will absorb the heat from the sun and keep them a little warmer at night since there is only a 90-100 day growing season here in the mountains.

I think it turned out pretty good

After I made it I felt pretty good like I'd had a really good work out. I remember seeing something on t.v. once about some guys in kilts moving big boulders around. So I googled it and found out that some people pay money to be able to pick up rocks:

Cross fit atlas stones

So I was thinking "Wow, how lucky am I? I get to pick up boulders for free and I might even get some tomatoes out of the deal!"

Come on can't I brag about a cool thing I built? Give me some love! And when you build something cool I'll give you a pat on the back too!

You plan on letting them sprawl? I like your spiral. I have a miniature version that I grow
herbs in. If the tomatoes don't like it there are plenty of things that will. That looks like
it was quite a workout!

Yeah, I like it! We have an herb spiral too. Works great! Lots of tasty sage and parsley!

Looking good. Are you in the uS - heading towards wither? Are you going to start growing something in it now?

I am more or less a WWOOFER working for a lady that has a Homestead type deal, working for room and board. I built a couple Heugelcultur beds for her and lots of deer fences and most recently this big spiral. She wanted a big spiral she could walk on. I think my work there might be coming to a close and this winter I will be focusing on free lance writing. But I feel like I learned a lot this summer for when I get my own land or maybe some other time I will work as a WWOOFER again some place else. I have to say "hardscaping" has been my favorite part of the job.

That looks great! Good idea for the boulders, may have to try that on our land too...

Maybe he went home and went to bed. And took this tiny ad with him:
