I came across this this morning and thought others may wish to chip in.

from the appeal:

For at least three decades, the center of human activity within the garden has been a pavilion that contained an outdoor kitchen, a large porch, an enormous library, an herbal apothecary and two greenhouses. This week, a fire devastated the entire pavilion complex. Joe lost a lifetime of amazing books, the extensive herb shop & apothecary, the carefully-maintained seed collection, and many beloved plants, not to mention the garden tools, power tools, herb grinders, and the solar power system. This loss is devastating to Joe, the surrounding community and to all who have been shaped by Mountain Gardens. We are raising money to rebuild the pavilion and to upgrade the infrastructure on the rest of the land so that Mountain Gardens is ready for the next 50 years.

I had to check if this had been posted here yet. Joe Hollis and his project Mountain Gardens has been one of the greatest sources of inspiration for me in the last few years. Some one who has lead the way in being in harmony with plants and nature without much need for material possessions. The loss of the library and seed collection has crushed my heart and I hope all who are passionate about seed keeping, herbal medicine and even just the practice of homesteading or simple living consider donating to this. Much love.
