I’ve been working in an area of the forest garden that has been left alone for years. A lot of black cherry resprouted there, and we’re beginning to stifle diversity and some of the things we planted in there. So I’ve been removing some of the black cherry to open this area up again, and piling the material into dead hedges to slowly break down and provide habitat. The idea is to keep adding material and plant into the developing
berm as it transitions to soil. I have seen some others do this in cold climates and it seems to work well, but wanted to know what people think.
