We're continually tweaking our passive irrigation system and integrating it into a complex network of intertwining footpaths, cultivated beds, and wild areas. It’s kind of a different approach compared to other design processes, like doing all the earthworks first, then planting, etc.

But the goal is the same, we’re basically trying to store excess runoff in a network of basins throughout the forest garden, buffering pulses of heavy rain and allowing it to percolate into the ground. When weather turns dry for an extended time, plants can access these plumes of groundwater and grow bigger and healthier, further increasing the overall ability of the system to absorb and retain water.

I made a video of our passive irrigation system and I’ll continue to document as changes occur. Let me know if there's anything specific you want to see. https://youtu.be/HHe9hLh5QV8

Hope you enjoy!

Looks well designed and beautiful! Is that a giant Adirondack chair or a very small soccer goal?

Hehe it’s a giant adirondack chair, possibly the largest?? It definitely messes with the sense of scale, especially from an aerial view.
