Hi

I found this forum in my research to become self-sustaining as a family. I'm from Belgium myself and my wife is Canadian. We are organising ourselves to grow our own organic food first and seriously consider living off the grid in a later stage. This forums seems to be a great place to read up on possibilities and experiences.

I'm looking forward to meet a lot of great people here...

Welcome to permies Stijn,
There's lots of people here who share your plans for sustainability in a climate that my soft Southern Hemisphere self struggles to imagine!

Hi Stijn,

I am in Ontario too... mind you Ontario is almost exactly 1,000,000 square kilometres

I live about 50 kilometres North of Kingston which is at the East end of Lake Ontario. Are you close to there?

We are living without (much) contact with traditional society here and I am glad to here somebody else is trying that too.

What is that? Is that a mongol horde? Can we fend them off with this tiny ad?
Switching from electric heat to a rocket mass heater reduces your carbon footprint as much as parking 7 cars
