Any ideas im thinkin of using a shearing hand piece /down tube and an old fan?
ps set up a maggot bag for new silver perch and they are going ballistic!
the commercial pond aerator windmills in the states (koenders?) use small air suspension bladders as the diaphragms for the pump, driven off a simple crank/cam shaft off the blades. Only other parts are a couple check valves and a slip coupler to let the windmill turn all the way around without kinking the hose.

Has anyone hooked a windmill up to a water wheel to aerate a pond? With some kind of ratcheting mechanism to prevent the wheel or fan running backwards? It seems like it would be much easier to maintain than a pump if something went wrong, but would it be effective?
I'm debating a pond in my yard, but questions of overflow and aeration are keeping my plans at bay for the time being.
I have been thinking a bicycle wheel windmill could drive the pump from a washing machine(the one in mine is belt driven).
This could be used with a Venturie or fountain aerator.
