I am looking for someone to confirm that what I have is apple rust leaf?
I got this Cortland in the fall but the leaves had already fallen. It also did not flower in the spring yet the pear tree I got at the same time did. I should mention that I do not see any fungal tubes stick on the underside of the leaf and not a small portion of the leaves have the spotting.
oh yeah, you have cedar rust - it will get on the leaves and apple skin, but not the meat of the apple. It also looks like you may have powdery mildew - I'm surrounded with cedars and rust is unavoidable, but you have a bigger problem with the mildew. You should call the nursery asap. YUCK!
I would surely take a cutting and go to the nursery. I have a nursery and it's our job to help, advise and make right anything that comes off our lot - hopefully they will advise and fix. As far as the cedar rust - if there are cedars within 5 miles, they may be the culprits. If it's bad, pluck the effected leaves and bag them, don't compost or burn. You can polish the rust off the apple skin.
