Decided to post on Permies as timber framing is a natural fit with those wanting to do strawbale, cordwood, wattle and daub, or any kind of cob/plaster infill.

Pictures are of my finished 16 x 20 timber frame with cedar cordwood and the 18 x 24 frame.

We expanded the frame to 18 ft x 24 ft and have the joists to do a full upstairs or just a half loft depending on the buyer.  The frame is cut and ready to go except for the joist detail on the second floor.

All wood is premium Doulas Fir, milled locally from a sustainable source.  The posts, tie beams, sills and wall plates are all 8"x 10"s and the knee braces, joists, and rafters are all 4"x 6"s .  Total of 90 beams.
Comes with a full sill system as well.

I am in Australia and love timber framework.
I think Douglas Fir is what we call Radiata Pine and its resistance to rot and termites is shocking.
Am I correct? If so how do you protect the timber?
Thank you.
