My very cool and very permie brother (age 30) is currently visiting us in the UK and wants to travel a little bit in southern Europe. Nothing long, just a couple of weeks of tooling around. He's particularly interested in visiting and learning about sweet chestnut plantations for example in France, Corsica, and Italy, but that's not essential.
Mostly he would just like the opportunity to meet some interesting people and see some interesting stuff. He's up for doing some work too - experienced with livestock, vegetables, fruit and other trees, earth and water works, and more. Plus he's handy with entertaining kids!

If anyone could maybe host him for a few days, or has any suggestions, please post here or send me a message, thank you!

Hi we are down in the southwest of France and whilst we are not 100 per cent permie we are trying a few ideas like hugelkulture and compost heating for hot water. We are also renovating out home ourselves. You can find us as a Facebook group " volunteer on the Ashton farm in the Pyrenees.

I'm in the mountains near Madrid, Spain and we are starting with a land of 1,3 hectares (www.unasuertedetierra.blogspot.com.es). We are currently making organic bread for consummer groups and starting with cheese. We are holding a 2 day permaculture course on May 17th and 18th. The land is in a transition village (http://zarzalejoentransicion.blogspot.com.es/) and we belong to the CSA initiative there. This CSA was started by consumers, who rented land and hired a person to manage it. We have naturally ocurring chestnut forests near by. I am planning to plant chestnuts and I am specially interested in inoculating them with edibla mushrooms. However, I am still far from starting work on that.

Also, the one place woth visiting in Southern Europe is, of course, Tamera.

Cheers,
LucĂa
