Never experienced it, but saw it diagnosed many times in the 13 years I was a vet tech. Our doctor never used the term "disease", rather it was described as more of a condition.
It commonly presents as a limp, and often it's a limp that wanders from limb to limb-meaning one day the hind leg & a few days later the hind leg is better but now it's the front leg!
The affected dogs I witnessed were always puppies experiencing a rapid phase of growth, and they were almost exclusively large-breed dogs...never saw any toy poodles get a panosteitis diagnosis at our clinic! LOL
Our vet would let folks know the pup was growing faster than his bones were ready to support. I can't remember any specific meds she'd prescribe, but I do know she recommended the owners stop feeding puppy formulations, and instead
feed the pup a high quality ADULT dog food.
Your vet probably recommended the same, but if not, I'd sure get his opinion on it! Hope your pup is better by now!
