I enjoy the cornus mas fruits a lot. Lots of rare fruit (here in Alabama anyway) and ease of propagation get high marks in my book.
I bought my original plant from onegreenworld don't remember the variety but its a red fruited round variety. I have six I've rooted from my original plant by cuttings in
water until they formed a few
roots then transplanted.
Had my first cornus kousa fruits this past fall. The tree had literally several hundred fruits on the ground and several hundred more still in the tree.
The skin itself not very good. But the flesh is like an American persimmon, not good until they fall from the tree, squish the pulp into your mouth and spit the numerous seeds out.
And yes the taste of the kousa is American persimmon with a taste of apricot.
