My parents live in a warm temperate climate in North Alabama. I am helping them get set up with a vermicompost system in our backyard primarily to decompose kitchen food scraps and turn them into fertility. I have never experimented with vermicomposting before, so I am unsure of where I can get good worms and what types of worms I should get that work well in this climate.

Let me know if any other details are needed to determine the best type of worms to use.

Thanks.

Here are three PDF files about vermicomposting.
They range from a 9 page basics, to a 23 page text.
This should get you started, and up to maximum production.
