We had put up a gutter when we built a roof over our back porch, as the
water was kinda eroding under the decking of the porch, however, the gutter always leaked..we would put buckets and tubs under the leaks and we would get more than 20 to 40 gallons of water every single storm..ridiculous.
so.
finally with huge storms coming in ..i climbed up to figure out the problem, duh, the gutter had pulled away from the flashing and the water was ALL running down behind the gutter and onto the decking and through to erode the soil..
so.
I screwed the gutter into the flashing to snug it up and piled a gob of silicone on the screws and between the gutter and flashing and on all the seams..
storms came..
not a drop of water leaked out of the gutter..so NOW all the water is going down the downspout ..to the water catchment pond..woo hoo..still do have some work to do on the drain tubing as there are some leaks..before it gets to the pond..but that is 20 gallons to 40 gallons per storm or more (as the buckets would always overflow) that are now going into the catchment
pond than before..
