Hello everybody. I have not been able to find an introductory section so I hope that this is in the right place.

I live in Western Central NJ. Many of my co-workers commute from Eastern PA. I have a background in math, engineering, and the sciences. I work in the medical field as a Nurse Practitioner.

I have a great deal of interest in construction, green building, permaculture, alternative energy, and non-polluting vehicles. The bad news is right now I live in an apartment. I'm not really sure where I want to settle down so I do not want to start building yet. I'm also single so I am sure whomever I end up with might not fully appreciate my vision and I hope they have ideas of their own.

I am interested in meeting other people with these interests, and helping them with their projects applying what I have learned and building a network in the region.

Welcome to permies! Now seems to be a great time to make connections and learn from others so you--hopefully!--don't end up making as many mistakes as the rest of us . And, if you do end up wanting to put your knowledge to use, you could always garden in a community garden, or volunteer on someone's homestead (perhaps through the WOOFER program: https://permies.com/forums/f-27/WWOOF-organic-farm-volunteers-interns). Though, as a medical professional, I'm sure your schedule is pretty full and not always consistent (My husband is a night shift phlebotomist, so I understand a little about the craziness of working in the medical field)!

We do have an introduction forum (https://permies.com/forums/f-68/introductions), but no worries about not finding it. I sent a message to a moderator and they'll probably post this in that forum, too (if you ever want something posted in more than one forum, you can click on the "Report" button and then ask for it to be posted in another forum). We have a LOT of forums on here. Here's a directory of them, if you haven't already found it: https://permies.com/forums/forums/allForums. (You can find the link to it on the "forum listing" page. At the bottom of all the forums, there's a link that says "All Forums" that will lead you to the multitudinous amount of forums we have!)

I hope that helps!

Check your pockets for water buffalo. You might need to use this tiny ad until you locate a water buffalo:
