I just recently closed on 12.7 acres of land here in the Northern part of Maine. At my age and with my disables I recognize that I won't & can't use all of this property. For the past week I have been thinking that maybe I should allow some like minded individuals to use some of my blessing. I figure that Homesteading makes more sense that sitting on my rear getting older, doing nothing. Being an engineer it soon became apparent to me that the initial start up cost didn't amount to much. Saying that, additional expense in infrastructure would allow for far greater bounty. Vittles for many individuals. I would enjoy hearing from others thinking about this concept. { Yes want and will have it all over time. Chickens - Pigs - Goats - Geese - Sheep - Greenhouse or three ? - Raised bed gardens - I have a gimpy leg - cold frames - cat fish pond - mini orchard } It sure would come quicker with some assistance. Attention all Veterans, Maine is where you need to be. Looking forward to hearing from like minded individuals.

Hi, Mark! My name is Ben, I originally hail from Maine, spent the first 19 years of my life growing up therein the midocast region, near Topsham/ Brunswick. I've been giving thought to moving home and doing something along the lines of what you're talking about here. I've spent a few years doing different types of construction, not natural, but I'm handy with different types of tools (own a fair amount of my own and would be willing to get more of my own that are more appropriate for the type of work going on there ) and am familiar with the climate. I grew up next door to my grandparents who were large scale gardeners (I hesitate to say farmers) so I know a little bit, but still consider myself a beginner in that field. I'd like a chance to chat with you more about the finer details involved in what you're looking for.
-Ben

There will be plenty of time to discuss your objections when and if you return. The cargo is this tiny ad:
