I have an area of land that is either under water or soggy most of the year. I live in the south eastern United States in zone 8. The soil looks to contain iron. There is runoff coming in at 2 different spots and meeting up before flowing into my pond. There is a lot of silt run off into the pond that I would like to stop. I would like to apply permaculture principles to the piece of property growing plants that are edible, useful, medicinal, habitat, etc. Not sure if I can do all but not sure where to begin.

There are many interesting edible plants which will grow in boggy areas; these can be some of the most productive of habitats.
