I've practiced vermicomposting for years with my students in my classroom, but at home, we've always thrown our kitchen scraps straight into the
compost pile, mixing it in with lots of
yard waste and leaves. But a few weeks ago, I was watching a conference by a
permaculture speaker (I forget who it was) who was saying that it's a lot better to keep kitchen scraps away from yard waste and to compost them separately in a worm bin. I'd like to know what you all think of this? What are the pros and cons to each approach?
