Hi,
I'm a beginner to beekeeping and I'm starting to learn about beekeeping in general for the first time and had a question I was hoping someone could answer for me. Other than Italian, Carniolan, and Russian, what other types or breeds of honey bees are commonly kept in the United States both in the past and present?
Thank you
Honey bees are not native to the USA and many different folks have very different ideas about what type of bees are best ( define best ? )
I would recommend buying bees locally or catching them locally not a package other wise you may end up having bees not suited to your local with a queen they do not know and a hole in your pocket

For me,catching swarms is the funniest part of beekeeping. Swarm traps work but can't be depended on if you want bees that year. If you are a beginner, you may not be ready to scoop up a loose swarm.
