I am incredibly lazy – that is why I like
permaculture; in its purest form it removes as many labor related functions as possible.
Here are my three methods – and none of them involve turning or tumbling the compost.
1. Compost in place.
2. Put waste in the top of a large bin and have a large opening at the bottom that I pull finished compost out of. I try not to disturb the worms.
*But I do sometimes steal too many worms for other projects so I have to put more in.
3. Have large bin to put waste in with a completely open bottom. Occasionally I move the bin to different areas – worms and other creatures continually move the waste into the earth enriching the area. Sometimes I will plant all around the bin. And sometimes
volunteer plants sprout there too.
