I just finished reading a book titled Food not Lawns. It was the only book on Permiculture that our county Library system had. Frankly I wasn't impressed with the book, she lost me when she advocated stealing fron the Goodwill and Salvation Army at night, and gave advise about what to do WHEN you got arrested but I did get one pearl or Wisdon. She too wanted to get kids involved. She said take an area of your
yard 6" X 8" or even 8'X 8' 0r 10'X10' and dig it up. Plant sunflowers in a row along the outside of the area leaving a " Door " in the middle of one side. Plant Morning Glories between the Sun flowers and plant white clover inside the " Fort " . The little ones get to see the walls grow, they see how the Morning Glories use the Sunflowers for support, the white clover stays low so no mowing, yet it is soft to walk on. I have Grand childern and plan on Growing a Play fort this summer. My Grand kids are 6, 3, and 2, so they are young. Older Kids can do and learn
alot more. To get very young one involved I thought this was a GREAT Idea.
