Horses have always been my best friends and therapists throughout my life, so yeah, I love them. I have one Arabian at my home right now that is finishing up some healing from an injury in October. He will never be rideable again, but I am hoping to find him a home as a therapy horse. I am a certified equine specialist who used to work with therapists doing equine assisted psychotherapy work. I wish I could afford to keep a horse myself, but I simply cannot afford to
fence off all my
land right now and cannot afford another winter of feeding on my
retirement income.
Luckily, I do still get to do some therapy and leadership work utilizing horses and can go to the barn where we do therapy and work with any of the horses there when I want. Unfortunately, it is almost 3 hours away so can't do that often.
It is said that everyone
should have both a dog and a cat. The dog to teach you unconditional love and the cat to keep you humble. I agree with that and would add that I think one should have a horse to teach you about yourself.
