Hello - New to Forums VA

Hello fellow permaculture enthusiasts!

My name is Scott.  I am very much into permaculture, awareness, and happiness.  I recently purchased a 141 acre former goat farm and shop facilities in Southern Virginia right at the NC in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I am very much excited to continue the evolution.

The plan is to have a working permaculture farm with art installations over the property in addition to a blacksmith forge, glass blowing, woodcarving shop and similar exhibits around the 2 acre pond site to be stocked with fish.  Much of the property is wooded for hidden art/food/sit spots.  25 acrea of lob lolly pine will provide any building material for the future.  I have talked to a friend of mine who owns a solar company who has estimated the cost and sending me an email prefaceing a meeting.  He said the system could be up and running in under a month - very cool.  A forest of oak, maple, and cedars surround the house.  Daily deer feast from the apple trees in the front yard, 3 hawks call each other from the sides of the top field, and cayotes can be herd in the distance as night falls.  It is truly a calm yet exhiting piece of land.

There is so much to do, but I wanted to introduce myself and what I got going on.  I am happy to meet up for a tour or just a hang out if there are other sane people in VA or NC.

Heya! Welcome to the forum I've just joined recently too

I live in the Outer Banks of NC on a small piece of land my grandfather owns with a few fruit trees & I have since brought in a few chickens & have planted more nut and fruit trees as well as vegetable and herb gardens.

I would like to find a little plot of land further out west near the mountains of North Carolina or Virginia sometime soon to begin a food forest

  You have definitely jumped into quite an adventure.  Having spent the last 7 years struggling to make the dream happen in Colorado we are now going to be relocating to KY so perhaps sometime next summer we could plan an outting to see where you're at i this grand adventure.  Positive vibes.

Welcome. I am new myself but I have been lurking for a year or so. If you haven't heard Paul does a podcast on permaculture subjects as well. I am very close to the region you are in. I just started my permaculture homestead this year as well. Not anywhere near as big as yours though. Hollar if you need any help.
